Today was great. We went to the California Academy of Sciences. This is a picture of one of the aquarium exhibits. There was a earthquake exhibit, and even a simulator. It was way cool. There was also a rainforest terrarium, and a huge dome theater. It was a little chilly when we first got there, but it warmed up later. It was my first time is San Francisco. On our way back, we stopped at in and out burger. After we got back, a lot of kids went to the Stanford Mall. I went too, and me and a few other guys went to the California Pizza Kitchen for dinner. We came back to the dorm, and this picture was plastered all over the entire house. This is near the end of week one. It's crazy to think that EPGY is already one fourth over. I've already learned a lot and done a bunch of good work. I'm excited for what will come next.

Today, I put in another three hours of study and classroom time. The first two were with our professor, Andrew Hao, and later, I read our assigned reading and discussed the trade policies of the United Arab Emirates. I also played some beach volleyball, and burned my feet on the sand. I played three games of basketball and learned something. I am not good at basketball. There was a great meeting in the lounge, with music and games. Today, I have spent another 3 hours studying. We learned about the effects of culture on global trade. We were also given free reign of the campus, but many of us spent it inside playing hangman. Bdellium: a gum-like tree resin. Mentioned in the bible. I am also the master of grass whistling. We also finished watching "Rush Hour". EPGY is an amazing program. The education combined with the people and activities make it an incredible experience. I can't believe week one is almost over. Today, I learned a little bit more about global markets. Finished another group assignment, and read some more. I played a sweet game of ultimate frisbee, and tomorrow we can roam the campus free. I'm having lots of fun here. Thanks to everyone who helped me get here. Today was lots of fun. I got got up early to exercise and shower, then had breakfast. They split our house (Tri Delta) into two classes. We had our first class with Mr. Andrew Hao, and we talked and went over some introductory stuff. He assigned us some reading to do. After the lecture was lunch, and then self study. In total today, I put in about 3 hours. After that was a photo scavenger hunt. I played a couple sweet games of ultimate frisbee, then had a house meeting, and then started typing a blog post, and then... Tri Delta is a sorority. For one of our activities, we went to the Stanford Book Store and found an item that was made in a foreign country. That was assignment one. By the way, book store is an understatement. It's a book mall that sells way more than books. Today, not much actual learning was done, except rules. But there was a BBQ. We played some games, ate some food, and had a lot of fun. I got here guys. I did it. I survived the airplane ride, the check in, the baggage claim. Today has been kind of slow. I'm looking forward to tomorrow when classes start. |
